When Should I Take My Kitten to Visit a Vet?

Posted by Robin

One of the critical mistakes new kitten owners make isn't visiting the pet doctor for a physical check-up.  Many folks are under the impression that the single time they have to see a vet is when the cat is unwell or hurt.  Lamentably this misconception can be deleterious to the healthiness of your pet.  Proper care for your kitty involves more than food, water and a clean litter box.

As with kids there are many diseases that can be stopped by getting proper vaccination treatments.  Most vets counsel that kittens get them shortly after they are born.  These shots can shield your kitten from heartworm, FIV and other sicknesses that can negatively affect the health of your feline.  During your visit your vet will cover in detail the recommended vaccination schedule.  The vaccines your physician commends will be based mostly on whether the cat will remain indoors or out of doors.  Also whether other pets are kept in the house is a factor.  By giving your vet this information they'll be ready to administer the right vaccines to give your cat the best protection.

Even if your feline is an indoor kitty it is sensible to keep abreast of a once a year trip to the vet.  This can help you keep watch on your pets health as well as uncover any issues ahead and also get the correct booster vaccines administered.

Another strong reason to take your cat in for routine checks is that you may not know that there is something screwed up with your cat, but your is trained and can learn if there are any potential problems.  Also if you've been taking your kitten to them for some time, they will have your cats entire history, and most will know your moggy and will recognize if something appears to be different on that particular visit.  Aid your vet during your cats examination examination by noting any changes that you will have noted in your pussy since the last visit.  You may not think that it is weird or that there is not anything wrong with your moggy, but it'll help in deciding your cat's overall health.  Any changes in your kitten may not mean anything, but it is always good to keep your vet informed of changes as they can scribble it down for any future reference in case something does arise and needs attention.

There may be a point when you will need to make an appointment before it is time for the following scheduled check-up for boosters.  There are still sicknesses the boosters do not forestall, so take your feline friend in for a special visit.  There will also be other issues that although not life-threatening, shouldn't be ignored, that you're going to want to take a look at your cat for, for example fleas and ticks.  Our cats get treated for fleas when they need it.  I did not have to before, but we probably did bring a dog into the family and with him came fleas.  So we do treat each one of them or fleas, and I get a favored flea treatment from my

It is critical for yourfeline's health and well being that you make routine appointments with the to get their booster shots and an overall check.  It will keep them healthy and ecstatic, and they may reward you with tons of love.
